The crafting calculator is built around one question: how many raw resources do you actually need to craft a specific item at your current level? The answer changes depending on where you craft, whether you use focus, and how far along your Destiny Board you are. This guide walks through every input so you get accurate numbers the first time.
Selecting your branch and node
Start by picking your crafting branch from the dropdown — Toolmaker, Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Tailor, Cook, Alchemist, and so on. Then select the specific node inside that branch. The node corresponds to your Destiny Board entry. If you are a level 40 Armorsmith working toward Plate Armor, select the Armorsmith branch and the node matching your current tier.
Resource Return Rate (RRR)
This is the most important input. RRR is the percentage of materials you get back after crafting — it reduces the effective raw resource cost per item. RRR in Albion Online comes from two sources: your crafting city bonus and focus use.
Each Royal City gives a 40% RRR bonus for one specific material type:
- Fort Sterling: Planks (wood)
- Bridgewatch: Cloth
- Lymhurst: Leather
- Martlock: Metal Bars (ore)
- Thetford: Stone Blocks
Caerleon gives no city bonus but has no territory requirements either.
If you craft leather armor at Lymhurst using focus, you are stacking both bonuses. The calculator has preset RRR options — pick the one matching your setup. If you are crafting at a non-bonus city without focus, select No return rate. If you are at the bonus city with focus, select the matching bonus city preset.
Learning Points (LP)
LP reduces the fame required per craft, not the materials. It does not affect your raw resource calculation — it affects how many crafts you need to reach your target level. Check Include LP if you plan to use LP books to accelerate your progression. The calculator will lower the item count needed to hit your target fame milestone.
Level target
Enter your current Destiny Board level and the level you want to reach. The calculator outputs the total number of items to craft and the total raw materials needed for that entire journey, not just one craft. A T6 armorsmith going from level 40 to level 60 might need 800 crafts — the raw material list across all of those is what the calculator builds for you.
Reading the output
The right panel shows your raw resource shopping list after your RRR is applied. If you set up a T5 leather jacket craft at Lymhurst with focus, the output is your actual net purchase list — what you need to buy or gather, not the gross amount before returns. Use this number when checking the market or planning a gathering run.
