The Core Rule: Tool, Node, and Route Alignment
Gathering progression is mostly about keeping your tool, target nodes, and route aligned. Higher-tier tools unlock better resource Fame, but only when you use them on resources that match your current path.
Core Mechanic: How Node Progress Works
Gathering tool nodes level from the Fame you actually earn gathering with them - there is no toggle that speeds that up anymore. Quick Learn, the old mechanic that let you spend Learning Points on a temporary Fame multiplier for one active node, has been removed from the game. The only ways a node's progress moves now are gathering with it directly, or spending Fame Credits banked from other maxed nodes into it once you have some to spend (see AlbionCrafter's Fame Credits & Learning Points guide for how that works).
- Gather with your current tool node - that is the only source of its Fame now
- Match your route to nodes and resource mobs your current tool actually gathers well
- Reach Level 1 on the next tier manually as soon as you can afford the gear for it
- Spend banked Fame Credits into a node instead of leaving them idle on one already maxed
The Optimal Gear Setup
Consumables
Use Pork Pie for yield and carry weight. Carry enough for the full route, not just the first loop.
Mounts
Use a mount that balances carry weight and escape safety. Faster remounts save runs.
Escape Weapons
Use mobility weapons like Bloodletter or Double Bladed Staff. Your gathering set is valuable only if it gets home.
Pro Tips to Maximize Fame Per Hour
Hunt Resource Mobs
They are high-value Fame targets and often worth detouring for.
Gather Baby Nodes
Small nodes are fast to clear and keep your route moving.
Use Gathering Journals
Journals add long-term value to sessions you were already going to run.
Watch the Weight
Return around 80% capacity. Overweight trips erase progress and make escapes harder.
