To maximize efficiency, you need to understand what each material is used for and why certain markets experience high demand. Gathering the wrong resource in the wrong place wastes time; gathering the right one and refining it correctly can multiply your silver.
Resource Ranking
This is a general demand/risk ranking, not a guaranteed market price list. Always check your local market before committing to a long gathering route.
Hide
Highest potential, highest risk.
Wood
Stable demand from weapons and offhands.
Fiber
Stable demand from cloth and caster gear.
Ore
Consistent demand with transport weight pressure.
Stone
Volatile demand tied to construction cycles.
Hide - The Premium Jackpot
Hide often has strong demand because leather is used broadly in armor and combat gear. It can be excellent silver per node, but hide gathering asks for more attention than passive resources because animals and resource mobs fight back.
This path fits players who are comfortable with combat, cooldown management, and escape mechanics. If you gather hide in full-loot zones, treat every animal as both profit and noise.
Wood & Fiber - Stable Earners
Wood and Fiber are passive nodes with lower combat friction, which makes them useful for safer, more consistent gathering sessions. Wood feeds weapons and offhands. Fiber feeds cloth armor and caster gear.
These materials are rarely the flashiest option, but they are friendly to repeatable routes and players who want less combat pressure while still feeding active crafting markets.
Ore - Heavy Metal Trader
Ore and metal bars feed plate armor, shields, swords, maces, and other metal-heavy crafting. That gives Ore steady demand across combat gear markets.
The main drawback is logistics. Metal-heavy sessions can become weight-sensitive, so plan return timing, mount choice, and refining route before overloading your inventory.
Stone - Volatile Market
Stone is driven mostly by construction and economy infrastructure demand. It can spike during building, hideout, guild, or island-upgrade cycles, then become weaker when construction demand slows.
Stone can still be profitable, but it rewards players who understand market timing more than players who simply gather the same route every day.
Refining Bonus Rule
Raw resources are usually more profitable when refined in the correct bonus city. Refining bonuses and return rates can materially change profit because they reduce how much raw material is consumed for the same refined output.
Check the correct bonus city before refining, then compare return-rate presets in AlbionCrafter before moving a valuable haul.
